From Us To You:

Beautiful village,

We cannot thank you enough for coming out and supporting us at our ninth VLLG Jam last night. It was an incredible success, and the amount of love and positivity you put into it shined throughout the night and echoed the streets.

When the positive energy becomes too overwhelming, negative energy will try to destroy it. Instead of letting that happen, we pivoted and went with the flow, which proved that all is aligned and divine. We moved it outside and the jam session was the biggest and most powerful one yet. It allowed people who would have never come to the jam session to witness the energy and become apart of it. Which lead to us having the biggest attendance up to date. Things went the way they were supposed to. Thank you all!

All of your beautiful souls were felt last night, and we again share with you our deepest gratitude.

Much love,

GLBL VLLG

VLLG Blog: Chapter One

Peace, Village Family. Maggie here. I hope you’re well today.

Welcome to our VLLG Blog. We are excited to share our stories and insights with you, and we hope that you find these posts as liberating as we do.

Today, I want to formally introduce this blog with my favorite quote of all time, a line from Shakespeare’s The Tempest. It goes:

“We are such stuff as dreams are made on;
And our little life is rounded with a sleep.”

We can do anything and be anyone that we want – we are all gifted with innumerable opportunities that are just waiting to be seized. Life is too short to not live it out as fully as possible; we should always shoot for the moon, because even if we fail, we’ll still land among the stars (I know, I know, it’s cliched to say).

This life we live is so fickle and ever-changing, and we should never take any of it for granted. We are all worldly equals – worthy of every chance in the world to pursue our dreams. At the end of it all, we are one in the same.

No dream is too big or too small. No dream should be refused, ignored, or laughed at.

Life can move so fast and everything can happen so much that it can really be difficult to see the value in what you’re fortunate enough to have: to love, to be loved, to travel, to learn, to live, to enjoy.

It may be ever-changing, but we should all strive to live and to grow in this life as much as we possibly can.

Namaste.

What’s Inside the Badass Backpack That’s Saving Lives in South Sudan

SOUTH SUDAN IS a mess. Fighting between the government and a rebel militia has sent 25,000 people fleeing from a town called Kodok toward the border with Sudan—and on the road they’ve run into another 13,000 people on the run from yet more fighting. Imagine taking every person in the stands at a sold-out game at US Cellular Field in Chicago and putting them in a roadless, 104-degree desert with no high-tech means of communication, little food, and with a daily ration of just a quarter of a gallon of water each.

THIS JUST IN: EMILY VAUGHN IS IN THE “MOOD” FOR SOME FEMALE EMPOWERMENT

Emily Vaughn is not here to deal with drama. “That’s kind of where I am in my life right now,” She says. “Just actually enjoying not caring about anybody’s negative opinions.”

Her newest single “Mood,” out today on all streaming platforms, acutely epitomizes this exact sentiment. The song, similar to her 2015 single “Better Off,” embodies empowerment, freedom, and total autonomy over oneself. Unlike her previous release, however, “Mood” veers away from reminiscing about the past, and instead treks forward with unique prominence and power. Vaughn utilizes her creative outlet as a way to liberate herself, cementing her place in music with total power and self-sufficiency. Her music is unapologetic and freeing, and she knows the importance of owning independence.

Emily Vaughn – “Mood” single art

“Mood” maintains Vaughn’s trademark bubbly, pop sound, coupled with cognizant lyricism. The track beautifully highlights Vaughn’s mesmerizing lilt, and her distinctive, sirenic vocals drive the song with an extra eff-you punch. The effervescent instrumentals take the song to another biting level, making the empowered narrative feel that much stronger.

The song definitively declared independence, embarking listeners on a journey of self-discovery, self-worth, and self-efficacy. Vaughn croons,
